The South Muskoka Curling & Golf Club is the location for an elegant Marché dinner on Friday, October 2. Local food is served up with the ambience of a French street market and the touch of a gastronomic pro. Friendly, fun, and full of special treats! There is a silent auction, cooking demonstrations, and a cookbook signing by the host celebrity, Mairlyn Smith, whose latest book, ‘Healthy Starts Here’, has received rave reviews for its recipes, nutritional wisdom, and infusion of humour. Mairlyn is not only a TV personality, an actor, a professional home economist, and a teacher—she is also an alumnus of the Second City Comedy Troupe. Humour and health are natural partners, and Mairlyn is an expert at sharing her experience with both. This is an excellent chance to meet the vibrant Mairlyn Smith, learn from her expertise, and laugh at her incredible wit.
Patterson-Kaye Resort is proud to be the venue for An Evening of Local Gastronomy with Jamie Kennedy on Saturday, October 3. A pioneer of our national farm-to-table movement, this renowned chef has been honoured for his dedication to the values of local, sustainable food. His culinary excellence and leadership has been recognized with a Governor General’s Award and the Order of Canada. The gala dinner features recipes from his most recent cookbook, ‘J.K.: The Jamie Kennedy Cookbook’, which has been shortlisted for this year’s Taste Canada awards. In keeping with his respect for local produce, the meal will feature wine and cranberries from Muskoka’s Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh & Winery, as well as seasonal vegetables. Roast and confit of duck with roasted potatoes and cranberries is the main course, with a variety of appetizers, soup, and dessert. (The full menu is available on the website.)
